Before we are even old enough to analyze what we see, our world is saturated with media that sends contradictory messages telling us what is or isn’t culturally desirable, acceptable, and important. We are bombarded with advertisements for products that promise to make women look prettier, sexier, healthier, better. Girls and women are constantly monitored in their professional and social lives, and people feel entitled to make evaluative comments on their looks.
